Through blepharoplasty you can rejuvenate your look and boost your self-esteem. Without drooping eyelids and bags under your eyes, you’ll feel like a younger, more vital woman.
Eyelid surgery is a procedure to remove the fat and excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. In this way you will feel younger, as your eyes will no longer look tired, wrinkled or swollen.
Type of procedure
Major outpatient surgery.
General, or local if only on the upper eyelids.
Eye cleaning and eye drops.
On an outpatient basis.
Before and After
The removal of excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids will give you a new look. Over time the skin loses elasticity, an effect that eyelid surgery can correct, giving you more open and vital eyes.
Are you the ideal candidate?
Women who undergo this procedure are typically between the ages of 40 and 70, but in some cases, in which bags under the eyes run in the family, patients may be younger.
It is a simple and rapid procedure. Most of the time the surgeon makes incisions in the natural lines of the upper eyelids, and just below the lashes on the lower ones, to remove excess fat and, sometimes, excess skin and muscle. The incisions are closed with very fine, imperceptible sutures. Blepharoplasty is performed in our operating rooms, under local anaesthesia and sedation. The procedure usually takes 1 hour.
You will enjoy a younger and more vibrant appearance in the eye area for years. In many cases the results are permanent.
After the surgery an ointment is applied to the eyes to lubricate them. You should keep your head elevated for a few days after the surgery, and apply cold compresses. We will teach you how to wash your eyes, and you may be advised to use ophthalmic eye drops to keep your eyes hydrated. The stitches on the upper eyelid are removed about one week after surgery. There are usually no external stitches on the lower eyelid.
Back to normal
After the stitches are removed you can begin to resume a normal life. You should avoid strenuous activity for three weeks, such as heavy lifting or vigorous exercise.
Every year we perform blepharoplasty procedures successfully. Patients can rely on our qualified plastic surgeons. However, as with any surgery, there are risks. To minimise this, it is essential to carefully follow our plastic surgeons’ instructions, both before and after surgery.
